1024 HOURS, AUGUST 15, 3036 A.D.
“Just a few more adjustments...”
Bowser paced himself. At long last, Project Italy was nearly completed. The belt's features were fully tested and functional, with all bugs squashed, the new nano-hydraulic systems were fully functioning, and, to combat the Bureau's new Super Soliders, a Phazon Enhancement Device (PED) had been implemented into the weapons systems.
All that was needed was to give it a complete test drive, with everything working at once.
First, though, to ensure that the test was secret, Bowser immediately locked his lab down; scrambling codes, resetting alarms, and sealing the doors and windows shut.
It wasn't much to look at: it appeared to be little more than a small, silver belt that attached to the soldier's waist. It was able to fit any person, which was good, as the “One Size Fits All” mantra was part of Project Italy's versatility.
“Well...here goes everything...” Bowser said to himself.
The Koopa King pressed the small, green button. At first, nothing happened. But after about three seconds, small black tendrils suddenly emerged from all sides of the belt, encasing the Koopa King in a matte-black suit. The tendrils also hermetically sealed him in, with oxygen tanks and NBC Filters running smoothly. An HUD interface also appeared in front of his face, showing damage sustained to the systems, a targeting reticule that aimed where he waved a test pistol, and a counter that displayed how much ammunition he had left, as well as Phazon left in the storage tanks (there was none, for safety's sake).
Bowser grinned slyly.
“She's ready.”

1032 HOURS, AUGUST 15, 3036 A.D.
The day had finally arrived.
Mike would at last learn how to revert back to his human form, and he had been eager to finally be given this chance. All dressed up, he headed to the chamber where Ignatius would be waiting.
The Dragon stood there in the center, as he had on previous days, arms crossed.
“Well. Today's the day, Michael.”
“Yeah. I finally get to switch forms,” he replied. “So...how's it done?”
“It is quite simple, actually. In order to regain your human state, all you must do is picture yourself as a human, and your body will return to its original state.”
Mike stood there, blinking.
“...That's it?”
“That's it.”
“Okay...here goes.”
Mike shut his eyes, and pictured himself as a human, as Ignatius had stated. Suddenly, his body started aching again, as bones and muscles started returning to the former states. Perhaps the oddest feeling was that of his fur retracting into his skin. It was so bizarre he simply couldn't put it into words. It took all of about five seconds for the transformation to complete.
When he opened his eyes, he patted his chest, and looked at the rest of his body. His grayish fur had now given way to white skin, and his ears were back on the sides of his head. The tail was gone, and his nails had replaced his claws that he once had.
“I am BACK, baby!” he shouted, happily.
“Very good, Michael. Now, to return to your wolf form, just picture yourself as a wolf.”
Mike nodded, and again, closed his eyes, imagining him as a wolf. Again, the aches came. With time, he'd get used to it, but for now, he could again feel the bones and muscles rearranging themselves, and his general physiology changing. He was now once again a werewolf.
“Awesome. Now I can switch back and forth between states!”
“Well, hold on now, Mike: you're not leaving yet.”
“...I'm not? Why?”
“There are still a few more tests you'll have to do. Come with me.”
Mike was lead back to the other building, where the rest of his training took place. The training involved the ability of using both forms in the real world. The first task Mike had was being able to switch forms without being seen: in combat, if no-one knew both your forms, it would give you an easier time avoiding detection. Next, Mike had to decide which form suited a given situation better; for instance, if it was a narrow crawlspace, Mike's smaller human form would more easily fit in the confined area. In extreme cold, however, the thick fur coat of his Wolf Form would provide additional warmth, as well as providing partial camouflage.
Perhaps one of the most interesting tests involved him using his wolf skills while still in human form. He was able to change his eyes or ears without transforming the rest of his body to use IR vision and listen in on potentially important details. It was also possible for him to morph a finger, hand, or foot into its wolf state without the rest of his body following suit. He could not, however, use his nose to get scent trails; his human form's nose wasn't sensitive enough to pick up certain smells that his wolf form could. The best that could be said is that Mike was able to detect smells more easily, but that was it.
After a rather exhausting day, Mike was finally ready to go home. But there was one last thing he had to do before he left.
He went to the dorms to find Megan.
“Hey, Megan?”
“Hmm?”
“I...know this is probably not a topic you'd like to discuss, but...do you know when your mother's funeral will be? Because I want to be there.”
“I haven't heard yet,” she sad, solemnly, “but when I do, I will absolutely let you know.”
“I'll be waiting,” he said, smiling. “Well, see ya then, I guess.”
“Bye!”
Mike left the bunks, and headed to where Ignatius was.
“Are you ready to leave?”
“Yes. I'm ready.”
“Very well.”
Ignatius then pulled out a wristcom and sent the signal that allowed access back to Imperial High Command. A Blue-White Time Gate opened up, and Mike ran inside.
“Wolf Form!”
As he hurtled through the Nexus, Mike switched from Human to Werewolf, embracing his new form with a great sense of pride. He smiled as he “surfed” through the dimensional rift back to Xyber XVII, content with his new abilities.
But elsewhere...a storm was brewing...

“Attention, Devil's Advocate: you are now cleared to launch.”
Akasi smiled evilly. With the information provided by JoshTigerHeart, he now had everything he needed to know about the Dominion Universe.
The fury of the JR/VA was about to be unleashed.
NOTES N' STUFF:
And we're finished with the training arc. =)
I'd actually left a few hints it was coming in a few posts leading up to these seven – did you spot them? They were subtle and yet not, at the same time. That is, they were there, almost screaming it at you, but unless you were really looking, they weren't all that obvious.
And who says that weres don't shift this way? It makes sense to me if the moon isn't what causes them to transform.
The Phazon Enhancement Device was developed by the Galactic Federation of the Metroid Universe. By linking their weapons to a backpack carrying the nasty blue stuff, Fed Troopers can supercharge their weapons to deal crazy damage.
That's no ordinary suit-belt you're lookin' at – Project Italy, as you'll see, is much more than a fancy black suit. You'll see in the next post.
Come next Saturday, we'll be all caught up with where I am in the Colosseum Bar. The next arc will also demonstrate just how much power the JR/VA and the Empire wield.
