Doodle, but ;A; one of my chooks got injured pretty badly today!
I go out to check on my flock, and I notice I'm one short of six, my normal total. I go in and find one of my two Polish (this breed: http://www.poultrypress.com/images/.....Bantammale.jpg) hiding in a corner with a bloodied head and missing crest feathers! I look around the pen -- his feathers are scattered about -- but I don't know what happened. Failed predator, other chook attacked, I don't know. Patch about the size of a nickel ripped CLEAN off, barbs and all.
After a little chick-chase, I take him in. After a short ordeal where he lept from my arms and hid behind the oven >>, I get him in the bathroom and washed off, apply Neosporin to the injured area, and put him in a separate cage inside with food and water by himself.
Of course. The vaulted skulled breeds always get the head wounds -_-. Pretty much, the reason this breed get those impressive 'fros is that they don't have a goddamn skullcap. Take from that what you will ._.
He's in and settled, eating and drinking like normal. He just seems to be recuperating okay. Cute, though, he'll cackle and talk back to me if I talk to him, and he gave me a proud crow earlier, first of my flock to give a real cock-a-doodle-doo xD.
THAT WAS A LOT OF WORDS FOR A TEN MINUTE DOODLE
