Nidia and Shard's relationship is weird. Very, very weird. She annoys him, bullies him, threatens him, and slacks off on her work unless she's interested. But her twisted form of loyalty and the rituals she's put into her cat/cat-toy relationship with Shard keep things civil.

She also keeps reminding him of the fate of the last smaller creature to enslave her by calling him 'Master' in the subtle(in her mind) threat of: I will bite off your head if you cross me.

Usually she gets one day a week to goof off and even drag Shard into her fun. Usually it amounts to Nidia toying with him like a cat with a mouse, sparring, or other activities she sadistically thinks are fun or funny. Today, she just wants to relax and have her scales rubbed. No threats or coercion. Just sunbathing and napping.

After spending most of these days where she demands his attention in mortal terror or exhausted, it's a bit odd/suspicious that the two story monster wants to just spend time with him.
