The dawns light poured in through the oculus of Durham cathedral, Verdant had arrived at just the right moment. As the sun passed over in the sky the perfectly crafted window would refract the lights colors apart and shed them in a ballet across the nave. The clerestory was ablaze with the godly light, it brought to life the corbeled arches with a transcendent aura. He had traveled for nine months to get here, his journey could have no finer an end, but such an end he would not know, it would in fact be. For on his return to Bethlehem he would discover strange shifts in power were already underway.
