"Come, traveler. You may yet satisfy more than one of my hungers tonight."
This photograph was taken during one of the last evenings of my already-extended trip to the jungle kingdom of Tenafe, after the prince and I had grown close. Originally a research expedition (in order to write the book you now hold in your hands), I became enamored after some time by the beast you see above. He had an uncommon grace about him; where the rest of the royal family was oftentimes rough and without tact, the young Lysander took it upon himself to ensure my safe passage through his future kingdom. I was privy to a glimpse of the ideals that we now idolize Tenafe for, and one that would supersede it's previous reputation; in the past, Tenafe was regarded as a country of little compassion, and it was more known for what it could destroy, instead of what it could build. The prince attached himself to me, I believe, because I had seen the world outside and I was his conduit to it. I regaled him in the evenings with tales of places I had visited, the morals they held, the kindness they could show their people (as well as the kindness they had shown me). The prince aspired to make Tenafe such a place, and during his reign as king, he achieved just that. Now, one can barely remember this country before Lysander built it into the kingdom it is today.
The prince and I parted ways days after this picture was taken, and I continued my travels around the world. It would be many years (and some time after I completed this book) until I would be reunited with the now-king Lysander, and today I call his kingdom home.
This was a quick doodle i did like 6 months ago and didn't get around to finishing until today, but i had a neat idea for it and it pushed me to write the above wall of text lol. I don't know if I conveyed that the writer and the king are a couple officially now but yeah that's my headcanon. thanks for reading!
