this particular item was made out of enjoyment, but also out of proof.
on my birthday April 20th, me and my friend
Rizzy_Rau went to a small metaphysical gift shop in Denver called ISIS, now i was never one for this shop, it just didn't "feel" right to me, i often felt like i wasn't wanted in there, or that it just "felt" negative toward me, but it was my birthday and they were having a sale on their stone collection, which even with the discount i felt were still way over priced (example, a tiny garnet about the size of a pebble would sell for 4 dollars, the exact same garnet sold at my favorite shop Herbs & Arts, which was no more different than what ISIS had, in fact better since the shop cleanses and studies there stones regularly...25 cents to 2 dollars, and the 3-4 dollar ones were the size of a large marble).
well after finding a few choice items me and Rizzy came across what was a particularly pretty bell hang, it was a quaint item made from what looked like 15 inches of fishing string with plastic transparent red beads along the length of the line, and at the end a small metal bell with a lil faux brass tag that has some common symbols engraved on it, much like what is shown here...nothing else..oh but a price tag....for 36 dollars THIRTY SIX Dollars!
we were shocked, mostly me because i KNEW for a fact that not one of those items used to make the piece, even in combination would cost even a Quarter of that price, we asked if it was anything special the lady said, "oh yes a local artist sells those) that's it..no story, no spell, nothing, it was just a simple faerie bell...
no we said, no no no Rizzy suggested that i could make one much better at half the cost with much more useful items that will be much more special because it will be something you yourself had a paw in creating due to my knowledge of such items.
well i took this challenge and also because Rizzy has given me some nice gifts so it was time i returned the favor.
so with that i found some
Polished Red Coral Chips
Sterling Silver Beads
3 hand twisted Died Red Copper (pure) wires twisted into a wrapped ring
Stretch string anchored by copper crimp beads
3 Faerie Bells that
Rizzy_Rau picked out her self
and her Zodiac symbol along with two other charms to signify that these are her bells, and meant to work with her energy flow.
this project took quite some time and effort to create due to the nature of the coral and the string being rather difficult to tie off
but with that i was able to create a visually satisfying item that i hope
Rizzy_Rau will enjoy.
Red Coral elements: Water, Akasha (no clue yet)
*this is a re-post from my arrow head necklace, but the same concepts apply, i used red coral due to more the ethereal protective nature they bring.*
When worn so as to be plainly visible, it is meant to be used for protection, particularly against “the evil eye” demons, furies, succubi, incubi, and phantasma, among other ills. It can also guard against accidents, acts of violence poison, theft, possession, and sterility, the last part especially in women, most importantly if given to a child as a gift, it is said to ensure future health. Some say that placing a piece of coral in a Childs room to protect him or her from such evils and ills.
There is also a Hindu belief that the ocean is the home of human souls after death, and so coral is considered a powerful amulet for the living in fact some legends have been known to have coral placed on the deceased to prevent evil spirits from occupying it.
However many people believe that coral is more of a living item, since it is nether stone or plant, it was in fact alive and is the skeletal remains of a living oceanic being, as such, it is said that it loses all power when worked on my human hands, this is not necessarily true though, The more observed ideal is that if coral breaks for any reason when used in magic or rituals that then is when the magic is lost and that pieces should be returned to the ocean.
If you ever happen upon a piece of coral naturally or it is brought to you in a natural manner then you are quite fortunate indeed, give your thanks to whichever and take care.
Copper elements; Water, Earth *note, this is pure copper wire, with the exception that it is permanently died red*
Now copper working much like gold as a conductor and magnifier, copper has also been used for healing, much lore is noted for coppers healing attributes, such as bringing balance the bodies polarity or the flow of projective and receptive energies, aid in travel sickness, rheumatism, arthritis, and many other painful conditions. HOWEVER, I do not wish to note al the healing effects and concepts that it is known for unless that is what the amulet is meant for, and even so, I do not wish to say that anything I make from copper is meant to act as a substitute for far more useful medicines and medicinal aids.
Copper is also known to lend itself for playful creativity and promoting a sense of justice, works well with giving energy a sense of direction, for luck, love, and Protection once more.
Copper once again being a great conductor, but not just for stones, it works well for the flow of many different types of energy throughout the body, such as the nervous system and brain functions, however there can be negative aspects to this such as a release of frustration, tension buildup and nervousness.
Copper is known to carry stone energies the way a wire carries electricity, in fact copper works with any earthy stone with which it is used, the only major exceptions are meteorites and tektites which can create discordant or overly intense energy fields when combined with copper.
Copper does tend to oxidize and create a slight build up, but this does not lessen its effect but in fact can actually enhance it. Still, to keep it looking new a lil polish and maintenance never hurt either.
i will post on silver at a later time for i must get going now.
