Prairie State Birds - South Dakota
A couple days late getting this finished, but here is the fourth and final installment in my Prairie State Birds series. The state is South Dakota, the bird is the Ring-necked Pheasant, and the flower is the Pasque flower.
I had a bit of a challange in trying to mimic the plumage of the pheasant on the Alcarin. Pheasant feathers have so much variation on colors and patterns, and its difficult, if not impossible, to pull that same thing off with fur. But I tried, and I think I came up with a reasonable similarity.
Original size is 11" x 14" on posterboard, done with colored pencils and watercolor pencils.
