This is supposed to take place super late in the FoM timeline, like WAY down the line/future stuff.
Blueflare has always had feelings for Discord, Eventually the Draconequus and the pony become romantic and there are many chaotic happy times for the both of them. Then this fated decision is made.
Blueflare is a highly talented and powerful unicorn, She even studies under Princess Twilight, as she had so much potential.
But she can be a bit full of herself, and impulsive, not to mention you have to have an unstable personality make a relationship with a beast of chaos work...
It occurred to her one day that she wanted a family with Discord.. Theoretically the magic was possible, but it required a tremendous amount of power from everyone involved, fully sane ponies would never attempt this.. For a Draconequus, it was hardly anything at all, but for a mortal unicorn... The spell nearly killed her, and her magic was but a shadow of what it had once been. For a while it was ok, but it nagged at the back of her mind from this point on..
"We should never have done this..."
