Kate tossed the tennis ball into the air and shot it across the court. After she'd beaten her third opponent, she noticed Lucy had arrived at the side of the court. She held up her digital camera and snapped a photo as Kate hurried over, her body glistening with sweat. "I love it when you sneak up on me, Lucy."
"I got off a few hours early, felt like working out after sitting at my desk all day. I brought my tennis stuff, if you fancy a game," she said.
"With you, always," Kate said. The snake dried herself with a towel and waited for Lucy to get changed. A few minutes later she returned in a cute tennis outfit that like Lucy was always more conservative than Kate's. She winked. "I can't wait to see you bounce."
"Don't you mean the ball?" she asked.
"I always love seeing balls bounce."
"You had to make it weird," Lucy replied.
Kate flicked her tongue in amusement. "You make it so easy."
Lucy gave a fake sigh of exasperation and jogged over to the court.

Kate just loves embarrassing her girlfriend, doesn't she? Silly snake. But I always enjoy the banter you write for those two, and this is quite a lovely picture of the lovely Kate. I'd say her outfit is perfectly modest, and the smile she's wearing is just plain charming. I can't remember if I've said, but I really like that she's presented as such a sweet and kind-hearted girl, teasing or no. It's so rare to see snakes, especially venomous ones like rattlers, portrayed as anything but villains and, with so many of your characters, it's just such a nice change.
Kate knows Lucy enjoys it though she might pretend she doesn't. Kate loves making her blush and getting her out of her shell.
Kate is kind of my proof how you're raised may influence you but it doesn't control who you become. It's a lot of their relationship. The two of them are perfect partners. Kate was raised by a con artist who just used her to con marks, she never had a family or a normal childhood or anyone who really loved her (though her father would have if he'd been allowed), but after her mother left her she met Lucy, a girl who needed someone worldly to protect her and help her get back on her feet paws. She gave Lucy love and strength, and Lucy taught Kate about a family. Kate will always be a tease, a flirt, and an exhibitionist, but she'll never hurt someone unless they threaten Lucy.
