I made this heap of titanium scale maille bracelets for the convention I was vending at a couple weeks ago. I didn't end up selling them, though, so now they're just stock on hand. But this was a lot more of these than I've had at the same time before, so I was happy to have the chance to show the range of coloration they can have. They're all heat-colored, where I heat them over a flame until they start to glow orange, at which point they'll oxidize in the air. How hot they get determines the depth of the oxidation layer, which determines what frequencies of light the surface reflects. (Science!) This does mean that it's an inherently inconsistent process, and reproducing a specific coloration just isn't feasible.
