I did this guy up for a painting competition at the local gaming store. I was flagged for the Master level and I missed first place by only 1 point, shucks. Lost to a multiple time "Golden Demon" winner, a painting contest done by Games Workshop. Still had a blast painting this guy and getting some feedback from some seriously skilled painters. Might do better next time.

When I point out this took a month to paint and the guy who beat me stated he did his in 30 minutes. Course that guy also runs a Games Workshop store locally. I still have a long way to go before I am the quality of say the Heavy Metal painting crew at Games Workshop. I do admit for an armature I am not bad.
He probably has tons of time to do this, you don't constantly paint and paint and paint. Also he does it for a living, of course it will be faster. And if he runs a store, he has the money to buy the best materials. Kitty you sell yourself short so much, you are amazing and don't let yourself be told otherwise ;o (they basically said it as well, you are amazing).
Nice work on Cawl, but trust me we both got a long way to go to beat AJ in a painting contest, especially if he gets serious about it.
Overall looks really good table top quality there bud. I am itching to paint my Cawl, but waiting to master a few more techniques first. Although when I do it will really be worth it.

BTW just because he works GW does not make you a good painter. AJ put a lot work over there years. What you saw in the painting competition was a sample of his fast pace get it on the table painting, but he will help you learn some serious techniques. He gave me advice on a patreon to join and really got me juiced. Maybe 50 bucks a month the one on one hour tutoring is really worth with it. Sadly Aaron all booked though. But I will pass on what I learn.
