Shaz'ah'rae, or Shaz for short (or as Sera calls her, Shazzy), is a lesser succubus who was formerly a member of Queen Ra'ziah's infernal court. She incarnated a mere 92 years ago, making her an infant in demonic terms. Her diminutive size does not correlate with her age: most demons initially manifest as normal-sized adults, and with sufficient nourishment greater demons can attain behemoth proportions within a few years. Shaz, however, is afflicted by an extremely rare condition that prevents her from effectively metabolizing the energy she absorbs to convert into physical mass. Her resulting inability to grow horns is particularly stigmatized among fellow demons. Similarly, her condition seems to severely dampen her sex drive, a tremendous liability for a succubus. Most of the time she displays no interest in sex whatsoever, preferring to immerse herself in the study of the occult, and divining the arcane secrets of the cosmos. Though never gratuitously cruel, some of her experimentation can be rather questionable in their relentless and unflinching inquiry, particularly in terms of their effects on her living subjects. Shaz is remarkably observant and meticulous, and it is a rare detail that manages to somehow escape her notice. Possessed of an immeasurable intellect and an innate insight into the nature of magic, enhanced by a perfect photographic memory granting flawless recall, she has amassed a nearly unmatched knowledge of the arcane arts in her relatively short lifespan. Unfortunately, Shaz' small size renders her incapable of storing magical energies in the immense quantities available to greater demons, and so her technical and theoretical expertise far outstrips her actual sorcerous ability. Though a peerless spellweaver in terms of skill, she can rarely match another powerful wizard in terms of raw magical might. But when your understanding of the fundamental nature of magic is as comprehensive as Shaz's is, there are always weaknesses waiting to be exploited; for her, every opponent is merely a riddle to be solved.

Although Shaz'ah'rae rarely concerns herself with matters of sexual intrigue, for a succubus sex is still ultimately a matter of life and death. Once or twice a month she is gripped by a ravenous sexual hunger that compels her to seek out mortal life-energies. During these periods she hunts down suitable victims and quite literally screws them to death. During her rapacious rampages Shaz' personality shifts entirely - she becomes single-minded, ruthless and highly aggressive, leaving a string of dessicated corpses frozen in the rigor of orgasmic release in her wake. Once her urgent needs are sated she awakens as if from a trance, her sexual interest wholly subsided and replaced by her typically anodyne pursuit of intellectual gratification. She rarely forms coherent memories of these periods, much like an alcoholic during an epic binge, and when faced with the factual results of her actions she is often genuinely shocked, and occasionally even regretful. She has long since learned how to cure her disorder through the use of magic, but considering that she owes her prodigious knowledge to her lack of prurient preoccupations, she can imagine no worse fate than to endure a sex-addled eternity as a "typical" succubus.

Shaz'ah'rae developed a close friendship with Sera during their service at the pleasure of Queen Ra'ziah. Due to her small size, hornlessness, and her stunted sex-drive, Shaz was very frequently the butt of insults and other slights by other courtiers. Sera, however, being an outsider as well, found a kindred spirit and a counselor in Shaz. As Sera grew more powerful, she often came to Shaz' defense, and would frequently humiliate and debase her most vitriolic critics. Shaz has never forgotten this, and soon after Sera's banishment she followed her old friend out into the realms of men. Since, she has become Sera's right hand and closest advisor, helping her to administrate her conquered domains. In exchange, Sera has often shared her vast personal energy with Shaz, significantly reducing her need to engage in deadly sex-fueled feeding frenzies. She has also counseled Sera through periods of crisis, including the awakening of her dragon soul and the subsequent battle for control over her body. Through Shaz' guidance, Sera was able to reassert her command over the dragon spirit within, and has begun to master its fiery powers. With dragonfire, the single most potent weapon against demonic entities, now at her disposal, Sera has become the greatest potential threat to Queen Ra'ziah and her hordes.
