AKA, and now for something completely different.
This name badge is for
tora who earned this and has waited patiently for me to make it.
As a rule, I don't draw Pokemon related things, but Tora won a badge and this is what he wanted. i have to admit, I've been delaying this for so long because I didn't know how to draw Tora's Growly. Something about it broke my brain. I'd have just as much trouble with an anthropomorphic My Little Pony, I think.
Sorry you had to wait so long, Tora

I think it came out fairly well. Pokemon can be stupidly daunting to draw, as can most licensed characters, because you instantly know if they look like what they are supposed to.
You want to just draw a rabbit, easy enough, but you want to draw Bugs, there are suddenly several requirements to make it look close enough for passable.
I think your badge works though. The splash background draws attention to his big smile :)

Not bad really. I'd have NO clue how to draw a pokemon (whatever pokemons are) and for the most part you did damn good on this. He sure looks like a friendly growly.
Doing those odd things help us to stretch ourselves.... much like putting inflatables, in places they weren't meant to go, stretch us to our limits.

Oh man it is so tough to go from realism to simplified cartoonism. I think you did a great job though! You maintained the power points of your realistic style while incorporating the important nuances of a simplified cartoon style.
I love the striped yellow and orange BG too. ^.^ Nice touch.
