A side portrait close up of Dumain. Taken as close as the lens would focus. This portrait is going on my wall in large format canvas. No cropping or color correction other than a levels reduction in the high white area. He's definitely a vibrantly colored serpent! Granite amelanistic Burmese Python.
One thing I love about posing pythons for portraits - it is possible to have the relaxed animal occupy every pixel of the frame and still get a well centered head shot. This is not possible with most other animals, unless their neck is cranked at an unusual angle.

I have this thought when I see most python faces, especially blood pythons and burmese pythons. I just want to hug them
This portrait nicely captures his realxed mood, and the lighting complements his scale detail while remaining soft. I love the effect of bounce flash, it gives shadow subtlety that is not possible with sunlight for most of the poses I use.
