Ah, so Kadd was the sergal in that mock-up manga that was drawn a while back? Interesting to know that was him.
Having followed this manga from start to finish (well, starting from around the 3rd page for when I found this series), I have to say that it was a multitude of things, just about the right mix of sweet and savoury, being able to start from Ged and Bakku meeting and showcasing themselves and the plot to warm people into the story, only to throw them to the darker past of Tal and the curse that lays over the land, highlighted from the Northerners "Yip" and "Yap" and their perspective from the curse. Just showing the right amount of tension / serenity in each panel, through either the landscaping, scene or characters is what really sets this up so well.
It isn't just that the story was of great interest, but that the style could also largely be appreciated to those who were unfamiliar with the world of Vilous, and even those familiar can learn more about how the world functions, such as many people (myself included) learning about the Talyxian species creatures will stray away from salts. Certain pages also really create a sense of emotion through what is seen, not said, such as pages 5 and 6 being a personal highlight to me for captivating feeling through drawing. It is also nice to see people conversing about what the page shows, with many people perplexed by how Sergals refer to themselves as "human", which by certain definition does ring true, and helps to involve the audience more so by questioning what we are seeing.
I'm really not serving justice to how these turned out within these few sentences, reading the whole collection would only way to see it for yourself, but there have been a rare few things that keep me enticed. This happened to be one of them, take what you will from that, I seem to be waffling on a bit much here.
Hopefully these were enjoyable to make, and I hope the best for you, not forgetting Ged and Bakku of course.
