Hey guys, we are back with Gurkha and with something a little more of a kick to it.
Liquor infused! Starting off with a little something simple. Cognac. :D
Gurkha Grand Reserve Cognac:
Wrapper : Connecticut Shade
Binder : Dominican Republic
Filler : Dominican Republic
Pre-Light/Construction:
With any sort of liquor bottle these days, especially with Makers Mark, you have wax coating the top to seal the richness of aroma. With some cigars encased with glass tubes, this was a big salute to it. After opening the seal I was greeted with the massive scent of sweet cognac. Infused with King Louis Xlll with a single dip. The feel was a bit dry along with the appearance of the wrapper like it was pulled out of a treasure chest from decades of age. Dry but smooth to the touch. Seems were visible and the veins were slightly shown. I nice little start for the day. Let's light up!
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs were very vibrant and free flowing. The taste of sweet cognac filled the pallet. Such easy and simple notes were being placed everywhere. A slight light white pepper was present too to sort of give that little kick. As the stick went down some more, a little more natural tobacco note was enveloping to the tongue. It was a more pleasant way to begin my final moments for the 1st day off from work and relax.
The Burn Part 2:
As the stick continued, the natural tobacco notes turned a little more woody into cedar territory. With that, the light white pepper kicked it up a little bit. Not muh, but enough to give a little more body. The cognac was still vibrant as ever. Nothing much else to come to change at this point.
The Burn Final:
Nothing has changed, but only a bit of the cognac was dying down a little bit. With that a tie between the cognac and the cedar wood for the finish as I put the stick in the ashtray grave.
Verdict:
When it comes to liquor I love something sweet and spicy on the pallet. Some other liquors are good for after dinner or a social occassion with friends. with something like this in a cigar, it's a nice way to relax and just let the day drift away as you take in the fine detail of time and patience in making this blend. If you see these in your shop, give one a try.
