Haha, the title is one pterodactyl short of a rick and morty reference.
So this started as a conversation on Picarto in which I was describing how much I enjoyed terrorizing people for halloween (a friend and I go all out with home built animatronics, fog machines, music synced to light show, etc.). adorablerabbit said I was a bad man, and so I drew a comically bad sketch of Perry scaring his character Ollie as a joke. I ended up deciding to refine it, but then realized that what was going on was kind of ambigious (is Perry being a bully? Is there something else happening offscreen that would completely change the context? Is Ollie really an evil mastermind who had it comming?) and so I decided to write a story about it to explore what was happening in a little more depth. It was initially supposed to be a lot more lighthearted, but eventually I ended up with this:
Perry waited at the bus stop feeling bored. He looked around for his aquaintences, but it seemed that they hadn’t arrived yet. He began scanning for someone else to talk to. Everybody seemed already involved in conversations except for a rabbit. Perry remembered seeing the rabbit frequently, but couldn’t remember ever having talked to him before, probably because it was one of the younger kids. He decided that interacting with a younger kid was as good a way as any to relieve boredom, and so he walked over.
“Hi, my name’s Perry”
The rabbit just looked shyly at him. "He doesn’t seem interested in talking to me", thought Perry. "That's fine, I can talk to him instead"
“So you must find names boring too huh? That’s ok, I don’t care much for people either, there are a lot more interesting things to talk about…” A thought occurred to him “...like what we were just learning in class yesterday! We talked about biology and how there used to be feral versions of us and there was a food chain! I'm a Stoat and we used to hunt and eat things like Rabbits and...”
Perry continued on, gesturing excitedly. He loved explaining things to people, and the Rabbits eyes were growing wider and wider as Perry kept talking. It was a change from the usual shuffling and looking around that he was used to seeing whenever he tried to talk to people about things he found interesting. He suddenly slowed his monologue though when he noticed that the rabbits expression could actually resemble fear more than interest.
"that doesn't make any sense though" Perry thought to himself. "learning new things is fun, not scary... I should test the hypothesis to be sure". He decided to amp it up a little bit and observe the reaction.
"But Stoats weren't even the biggest predators. There were also Bears!" Perry summoned all of his acting ability and held up his arms; making claws with his hands as he began to describe bears and their dietary habits.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" The rabbit screamed and ran off.
"I wonder what his problem was?" Thought Perry. "Oh well, that was fun while it lasted at least". He began looking through the crowd for someone else to talk to.

Oh, and then as far as Perry and Ollie being childhood friends, I did a bit of thinking about the mechanism.
With my current understanding of the characters, I think it might be one of those friendships that's kind of created and reinforced by the expectations of other people. e.g. on Ollies side his parents basically going "aww that's sweet, that stoat wants to talk to you, you're finally making friends!" while Ollie is secretly thinking "oh god please no!" (but of course no one listens to him). Then from Perrys end I could see it as basically he realizes (either on his own or after some persuasion by an authority figure) that he was being mean/unthoughtful and decides to try and make up for it. That generates the "aww that's nice you're being friends with that shy rabbit", at which point he's kind of stuck and ends up taking on a role akin to protective older brother (and maybe ends up doing older brother sorts of things too, like talking Ollie into mischief and then trying to pretend like he had nothing to do with it).
But yeah, just spitballing ideas here so feel free to shoot them down. I definitely don't want to step on any toes or write your character into something he's not.

No, no I LOVE IT!!!! *hops uncontrollably*
It's great when we all play together!!!!
*ahem*
I mean ... er ... there's something wonderful about collaborative storytelling. If there's something we want different in our stories, I'm comfortable we can tell a different version later.
