Things have been slow for me around here the last few days. One thing after another is happening, negatively, for me and my family. Yesterday was the nail on the head. My Munchkin kitten, Mochi, had gone to the vet to receive her next round of vaccines that every kitten should go through. She was doing perfectly fine...until the rabies vaccine was given to her. She immediately began convulsing, then was limp...lifeless. Her eyes had rolled back, and she was drooling uncontrollably. If it were not for the fast actions of my caring Vet and Vet tech, I fully believe she would have died there on the examination table then and there. She is still having trouble, and is still recovering from yesterday's ordeal. She was under constant supervision through the night, her vet tech personally staying up with her all night on stand by for any signs of further complications. This morning, Mochi was cleared to come home...but still needs constant supervision. Her appetite is less then satisfactory, but she is drinking. I've been hand feeding her bits of wet canned food from my fingers to try and keep her eating.
Mochi went into anaphylactic shock yesterday...a reaction that happens in 1 out of every 15,000 cases. The severity of it was very alarming.
Please bear with me as things are slowed a little more then my usual work speed as I work while watching over my fur-baby. She's resting on her favorite blanket right next to me while I'm working. And -please- don't discuss anti-vaccine topics in the comments. Any negativity will be removed...
Going to call it an early night, got maybe one hour of sleep last night...

Poor Mochi! I'm so glad you had fast acting help --and fortunate that it happened in clinic and not when you got home. I work at a veterinary hospital, and it always breaks my heart to hear of reactor puppies and kittens, I'm just so glad yours ends happily ❤
Happy recovery Mochi!
Happy recovery Mochi!
It's a very rare occurrence, so it's not surprising that you weren't aware that it could happen. Thank you!
That's adorable! Made me smile that others were naming their pets after Japanese foods LoL When I first got Mochi, she was a pure white puff ball, had very little dark coloration on her, and she reminded me of the Japanese sweet. She's not so white any more but she's still super sweet

Oh no, poor baby! My Yuki had the SAME thing happen to her when we first got her... She nearly died within moments and my vets had to rush to get her on IV's and all. They saved her life, thank goodness! But they said it had been the worst reaction they'd ever seen to a vaccination. I'm so sorry to hear your poor Mochi is going through the same thing! If you need anyone to talk to that's been through this, feel free to note me or message me on Instagram (FizzyBoov)! We went through it twice -- first with Yuki when she was a kitten, and then later with our older cat Macabee with a distemper shot. It was terrifying both times... I'll always be grateful to our vets for saving their lives.
