My entry for the "Cerulean Cave Battle Contest," hosted by cretaceousisle on deviantArt!

The goal of the contest was to create an image in celebration for the ending of the "Red Vs. Mewtwo" comic by them! I highly suggest reading it; it offers a pretty unique look at the Pokémon universe, and helps detail Mewtwo's motivations for destroying Kanto beyond what is provided in canon.

This particular image is a "what if?" scenario, in which Mewtwo wins -- while the original terms were that Mewtwo would destroy Red if he and his team lost, here I imagine he instead traps Red's soul inside some kind of gem, and ironically places it into one of the very Pokéballs that Red himself attempted to catch this troubled Legendary with.

Sphynx cats were used to reference the anatomy, and ClimbToTheStars (dA) was a huge inspiration for the stylization as well! Go check out her stuff; her (Warrior) cats are amazing.
