"Hey, um, Zulu Echo Xray.... Your ship is looking a little...um..."
To be honest, I was opposed to posting this. I didn't make these. Not the original models.
Though I did edit them a tad bit, and print them off.
But figured I'd just go ahead and do it anyway. These are actual, physical, federal corvettes. Just, you know, about 1/100th of the size. For size comparison, I put them next to my SoBe bottle.
This isn't the first print I wanted to show, though these were some of my first prints, and really they were just tests. The giant corvette was more of a stress test.
Though it seems to have turned out great, actually it didn't.
The tiny corvette took about 20 minutes. That was the second one I printed. The first one is the half corvette you see. That was going to take about 7 hours, but failed halfway through.
The second to large one is actually the full size one, and took about 12 hours I think. I'm sure it was a lot more, but I can't remember.
The giant (double) sized one took about 18 hours. And again, while it might look nice, it's probably, technically speaking, the worst of the bunch. And because of that, the full size one is probably my favorite.
While these look cool, ironically before the beta came out, I had barely touched Elite Dangerous is almost 11 weeks. Even with the beta... it's just a bit difficult to get some of that feeling back.
Holo-me and the new camera system were fun for all of 15 minutes.
The supports nearly killed the full size one (that's why it's still flat on the back / bottom), and the double sized one. I don't like how the giant one is joined. I may reprint the front / top with more tweaks and try again.
I also printed 2 Pythons, though not shown. The first one was decent, but had little detail. The second one had decent detail, but had bad areas.
I really wish the people I have known for so long didn't through me under the bus like that. Though I may not be the best at what I'm trying to do, I can learn, and I am getting better.
And expanding what I try to do is just one of many things that was to come eventually. It's one thing to be able to draw or even model something. It's quite another when you can take that medium to the next level.
I was always coming to this level, though when I first envisioned coming here, I figured I'd be clay sculpting. Everything I just said is almost made moot by the fact that I didn't make these models, lol.
But I'm just making a point. These were mostly for fun and testing, but eventually the real deal will be coming soon.
Now, to anyone who knows where these models came from, you know full well how the company feels about their models, so you know that I cannot share these models, nor can I tell you where I got them from.
Though how do you usually find info that you're looking for online...?
Anyway, This is probably it as far as these go, which is why they are in scraps. I'll hopefully have something bigger and better to show soon.
