I have wanted to attend Nordic Fuzz Con ever since I first heard about it at the end of Scotiacon 2015 (which happened to be my first furry convention).
This year I will finally be able to attend it & naturally I wanted a themed conbadge to commemorate the event. This years NFC theme is Samurai or Super Kawaii (whatever that is).

The lovely & gracious  Furiarossa were gracious enough to create this masterpiece for me. This was their first conbadge commission believe it or not. It came out wonderfully, better than I ever could’ve expected, & they were so helpful & friendly throughout. I would wholly recommend them to anyone seeking commissions.

Abit about this piece: Well as I said I wanted a conbadge to match the theme as a commemorative piece but I didn’t want to be too generic. Nor did I was to inappropriately generalize Japanese history by simply giving Silver a katana to represent the Samurai. Believe it or the not the katana wasn’t as integral to the Samurai as pop culture makes out. They were much more likely to favor the bow & they even used firearms near the end of their existence.

For his part Silver is wielding a Naginata which is a Japanese spear & around his waist he has a wakizashi & a….a katana. I never said that the Samurai didn’t have them, just that they weren’t as integral to them as pop culture makes out.
He is wearing a traditional Japanease outfit exept the Obi Belt is in the colours of my clans tartan. How could I resist but put that in as an identifying feature?
