Two years ago it was the same for me. I just started putting pencil to paper, got a book or two to learn from...and things just kinda went their own way. ;)

Wow a really awesome job painting those cels and they really look so very nice framed too!! I really love how the two birds are facing each other, tis almost like they are greeting one another. The cels over the background really adds a nice touch too!! I really admire your talent sir!!

It's awesome that your art gets displayed in a gallery. I've never really been good at drawing, and didn't really have enough interest in trying to improve my art. so I'll stick with photography (though I need better equipment)

Photography "is" art, if done in the right way. I've used many a good photographer's eye and photos as references to improve my own art. It is all good!

I still need better equipment though, all I have is a $75 digital camera, and my cell phone to take pictures with.
I agree that photography is an art form though.

Save up some cash, get a really good camera and then fly thee to a zoo and get me some avian pictures to make me proud!

The first part is the tough part, saving up some cash. Hopefully someday though. Until then I'll just have to hope for good luck when out birdwatching (and hope that I have my camera, I forget it a lot).

Those two look awesome together like that, the frame work really brings it all together. I really hope that you sell them as a matching set at the FLOW gallery. I'll definitely be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Yeah, it's weird how doing one thing leads to another and each style seems to find its niche. I wanted to do something larger for the gallery and I think these two will be a neat example of the strangeness that 'is' my style.

Perhaps I've started something here that will evolve into something bigger, something that I will be known and remembered for? Only time will tell.

No tellin' what I'll be doing in a few years. Perhaps I should work on some gator cel art next? ;}

Yes, yes I did; everything from drawing the concept sketches to inking them out on the acetate and then painting them with cel-vinyl paints and planning the backgrounds too. I designed them so that they would compliment each other. (I hope that they do!) __and I cut the blue matte that frames each of them. I "did not" make the frames though. ;) Now they will go on display in July in the FLOW gallery in Danville, a city several miles from here.

I really like the symmetry. I think these would look really great on either side of another piece. Not that they don't look really great by themselves. I'm quite impressed. I'm sure they'll go over well when you put them on display.

You've got a great idea there. I actually have a piece that I'm going to put in the middle of these two (cause I can submit three works to the FLOW gallery). I've got a nicely penciled eagle head with a nice black pastel boarder that might look splendid between these two when on display.

For some reason, I picture the US states of Maine and New Hampshire when I see these two birds together. They're like the closest states to my childhood home of Newfoundland.
