For some reason, I’ve been reluctant to post this. I’m not sure why either. But, it’s in my “To Submit” folder, so I may as well get it up into my gallery. It’s only three years old now, sheesh.

Anyway, a long time ago,  Antar-dragon did a commission series of “Impractical but Sexy Fantasy Armor”. I’m sure most of you are aware of the basic sentiment; fantasy armor tends more to look cool than be functional once you actually dissect it. Not always, but “Rule of Cool” more often than not is what’s applied to fantasy armor. Anyway, back on subject, as part of the commission cue, one had to select a class for him to design the armor around (and a character of course). Damian, as I saw him in fantasy, at the time was most closely aligned with what I would think of as an “illusionist”. That was a mite too specific for the artists intentions, but we both agreed that an illusionist was effectively a subset of wizard, so that’s what he went off of. And this was the result. Well, the second result.

This was the first commission where I actually expressed dissatisfaction with the original result, which looked like little more than a standard wizard with a jock strap. He didn’t take offense to my honesty, and went back and completely revamped the design, apologizing for not meeting expectations. What he came back with was something much more exotic, and looks much cooler. Certainly an interesting design an interpretation of Damian.

Hey, if you’re a wizard who’s strong enough to rock those pauldrons, why not have a gauzey outfit that shows off that bod with some flourishes for your magical superiority?
