CONELRAD, it's a popular radio station mod for Fallout 3 and New Vegas (there's probably a version for 4 by now), full of songs with themes about nuclear bombs, fallout shelters, the red scare, and fissionable materials in general. I didn't know Atom Bomb Baby was in Fallout 4. If it is, it's probably because the CONELRAD radio mod made enough people ask for it.
That's what the fuck I'm talking about. <:3c

Oh man,... y'know what? How bad can the Institute be, really? I know everyone in the Commonwealth keeps warning me about them, but ehhhhh, I think they're overreacting a little. Yeah, it's not like I'm TOTALLY gonna sign up for their recruitment program now or anything.... >// H //> ;
Seriously, though, this is glorious~ Nika's body here is just sexiness overload.
Also, really nice character you got there! Is that outfit a mod? I haven't really touched the game in a while except to add some texture and decal enhancement mods. X3

Institute ARE the good guys. For the first time ever, we finally get a faction which are actually good, with no stereotypical cliche "haha, we've been evil the whole time" twists. Just geniunely working hard for the better of humanity.
But no, most player automatically go against them without even thinking cuz "guys in power armor suits said so, so it must be true!"

Looking sharky slinky~
I'd agree that the Institute could be a force for profound good, more than the other factions, but only after reformation and emancipation of their now-sentient robot slaves who do all the menial jobs and keep their society functioning, which hopefully happens in one of the endings. But as the game begins, even after they knew the synths were becoming sentient and would eventually question their existence, they continued to just mindwipe them, killing those personalities and hope for the best, and didn't have too many issues killing and replacing people on the surface for close to a century either, even with more noble intentions. Much the same can be said about the BOS though (Who I'm not a particular fan of), who have villainous aspects to their actions, much like the Institute, so definitely not saying they're better in any way, because I do believe that ultimately The Railroad, Minutemen, and a reformed Institute working together would be the best outcome for the Commonwealth.
I also thought that blowing up the Institute for The Railroad was a colossal mistake, so that's my beef with them too.

The Railroad are like modern PETA. Sure, congrats, you stormed the local city zoo and freed the tiger from its cage. But what the fuck is it gonna do now, just roam the city streets on its own? Thats same logic regarding "freeing" synths. If you play as the Institute, you will see more reasoning behind that. And yes, if you go Institute path, they can work together with Minutemen no problem(thats not a fanfiction, thats in the game).
Just because someone keeps screaming something over and over non-stop(like "The institute are crazy and only want power!") and media keeps generating fake drama about it just to get more sales(like Public Occurences in Diamond city) doesnt make it true at all, when will people fucking learn that.

That works on an assumption that the synths are like animals or non-sentient creatures and they're not. Not in the slightest. They're intelligent, thinking, feeling creatures, no different from humans at that point. Nick Valentine is a sentient synth, one who escaped, and he's not like an uncaged tiger. Nor is DiMA, nor other synths you speak to and speak of their experiences in the Institute and what they hope and dream for of the future. Sure some go rogue and crazy, but that's no different to any other sentient creature that has the capacity to think for itself, for good or bad. I've played the Institute side too and even then they remained shit-scared of what they'd created: a slave-race that was becoming self-aware and that there were slaves and wanted freedom. The whole Institute scenario with the synths is a Fallout allegory for black slavery in the USA (Which is where 'The Railroad' got its name from, from the historical Railroad who freed slaves and spirited them away to the North) and the same themes were spoken about as such during development as influencing the moral dilemma) where the South was aware that they were facing a major awakening, tried to play down the intelligence of their slaves and implying they were little more than animals (as referenced by Father insisting that synths are all just 'machines') and clung onto the tail of the snake that was turning to bite them as long as possible. The institute are not absolute villains, more like moral absolutists who do believe what they're doing is right, but neither are all synths aged animals who deserve to be treated as slaves and servants for perpetuity for the good of humanity. Otherwise you can make that kind of argument for...anyone really, any kind of oppressed population where those oppressing consider themselves better or doing it for the greater good.
Just because you compare events doesnt make them even remotely similar in the slightest, im afraid. No matter how much/long you write about it. In your scenario, sure, both the slaves and slave owners were in the end human. But here its a difference scenario - those are actually separate beings, humans and mechanical machines. HOWEVER - even if we take that no doubt complicated debate away(are they humans or machines, etc. Lets take for a moment for now that youre fully right and they're classified as 100% human beings, alright) - think about it, are they treated unfairly?... Are they forced to work against their will, are they constantly beaten up, do they have forced explosive collars or something along the kind? None of that. Institute could've easily implemented such a system, that the moment anything suspicious happens, synth is forced to self destruct. But they havent. Because synths are not slaves, who do normal work, live normal lives, and, as you remember from your institute playthrough, are even allowed to have families. Only times when synths escape are when the Railroad manipulates them, making them feel as if they've been enslaved all this time. Good thing you brought up Nick. He has absolutely ZERO memories of his life in the institute. For all we know, it could've been a good productive life, but then he had his memories erased and manipulated into hating the institute. He has zero reasons to hate them, he just goes "Institute are terrible, they are evil!" without actually explaining in details WHY or any memories of what they've done to him. Another good example is Dima. Sure, he sounds calm, soothing, and oh so innocent, and at start i believed him myself, feeling sad for him. But then i realized that he is a very clevel manipulating fuck who knows EXACTLY what he is doing, making other people, such as Naomi and the Player, think they are synths, with that calm soothing "worried dad" voice of his; or manipulate other synths into thinking they lived a bad life. Synth Retention Buraeu wouldnt even exist if not people like Railroad and Dima manipulating and exploiting synths. You can see during institute playthrough that the SRB was created AFTER events of synths "escaping", meaning Institute werent planning to control or hold a tight leash on synths in the first place, before starting up the technology. Evil people of the wasteland(or other especially crafty manipulating synths) proved them wrong, thus creating SRB and controversial, but needed practices.

As a NCR Soldier, we don't like the BoS (they are too arrogant), we admit that Minutemen are just barely enough for their purpose, the Railroad are just a bit annoying with: Save the Synth from the Institute. Sure the NCR is a bit rough with some little factions like the followers and sometimes we can get very mad against huge factions like the Legion (bunch of son of bitches, I'm sure they've enslaved many people of your kind). But if the institute would like to work with us, we can grant full support for getting ride of the BoS who are harrassing people for technologies and being selfish to keep it from all others and not helping the people like they do in the capital once upon a time (yep I've heard many stories about the Lone Wanderer of the Capital). If the Institute, the Minutemen and the NCR work together, the Wastelands will be safe and prosper again and I wouldn't also mind to go on a date with you and giving you a visit of the Hub and, you know what happen next (if the institute is ok with that).
After what the Courrier Six have done for everybody in the Mojave and siding with us against the Legion, we want to give safety and provisions for people. So yes, NCR and Institute can work together, and by the way, I got a better plan, since we've got good contact on the Strip thanks to the Courrier, I can grant you a trip to New Vegas as long as the NCR, Institute and the Followers of the Apocalypse keep good relations, and by the way, I can grant you a sojourn to any Casino you want since it is now apart of the NCR while the owners stayed free while working for us, and together, we can show that relation can go further than human-ghoul love and, we will see what "Father" planned for you and for your kind.
