I'm currently working on my final project for an environmental portraiture class at RIT.
My project proposal is as follows:
"An environmental portrait tells about the subject through his or her surroundings. To capture a successful environmental portrait of an individual, it’s often necessary seek out an environment where this person feels most at home. To find the most telling of places, one must find the most customized, and most personal environment to the individual.
No location is more personal or more telling than someone’s bed.
One third of the average person’s life is spent sleeping. Knowing this, it’s not surprising that beds have become very personal, close, and special to most individuals. The bed is also where many intimate moments are shared.
It goes without saying that every bed is different. The bedroom, especially the bed, tells a lot about the individual; what’s on the bed? What is hanging around the bed? What colors are the sheets? Since the person spends so much personal time in their own bed, they’re likely to be very true to themselves in regards to their decoration.
I’d like to demonstrate this through a series of photographs: people and their beds."
Models are
zander_stealthpaw and his boyfriend.
