This is a gates 30KW FM transmitter. Its only a backup so its not running right now. When it does it sounds like a leer jet to cool all the tubes.

The heat off of that must be unbelievable. I used to play base using an old Raven tube style amp and after a couple of hours it was more than just warm to the touch.

This thing has tubes the size of basket balls in it. And yes when it comes on it throws a relay that starts up blowers in the roof.

some hardest working stuff out there! And when it broke, back in the day, it was really easy to fix!

Easy to fix and unlike solid state it can take a lightning bolt and survive with minor damage.
