Leomon is the digital unit.
He can respawn infinitely.
Although, what won't come back, is his memories about Jeri.
Even if Jeri will meet up with him once again in digi-world, he won't recognize her.
nevertheless, he will protect her once again.
Because it's programmed into his A.I. to be the "white knight", or the "paladin", or the "guardian".
In my theory, we cry not for his death.
We cry over the memory that is lost.
You can start over the memory from the blank page and re-fill it with new memories.
Or, stop taking anything close to heart and become indifferent, thus throwing away the new opportunity.
Personally, I would seal the heart in the shell

I'm not sure if cried myself or not.
But the final episode was very tear jerking.
I think you will only cry under or in teenage years.
After teenager years you won't cry.
You cannot experience the same emotions, because you grow up and grow a shell, so you will not endure the same pain.
I did a test.
I never watched the first season.
I watched only the third season when it was aired on T.V. in 2001 or 2003 in Lithuania...
So, in some 2009 or 2011, I watched the first season out of curiosity.
And you know what?
that Leomon death and that goodbye ending didn't bothered me.
I was indifferent to the plot progressions.
I think you can't emote the same trope twice.
Though, I did cried on those death episodes and goodbye ending in "Sonic X".
I think this trope works only on kids to make them feel this emotion to shape their perception.
Still better than these cartoons where "heroes" are lollygagging all day long doing nothing and laughing out loud while your face expresses "Poker Face"
I don't know, will I cry once again or not.
Today you won't watch or listen to the Linkin Park's music video on Cartoon Network like it was in 2005-2007.
Today you will get endless laughs and no drama, because community likes to shame the edgy themes.
And by the way.
I think the kid's look and behavior were done right by Hayao Miyazaki standarts.
No "cutsy" "fanservice".
That's why it felt that emotional.
Kids were kids.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
