The lovely Mel has a lot going for her when it comes to her position in the Nef'Rel navy. As a captain in His Majesty's Royal Navy she is in charge of one of the many powerful airships under Nef'Rel's control. Her ship is a private frigate, commissioned and expertly crafted by the finest engineers in the city-state. On top of that, she is the daughter of Queen Thelima, one of His Majesty's Fallen brides. This affords her quite a bit of leeway in her freedoms and pleasures in the city and surrounding territories, indeed.

She doesn't view herself as royalty, though. She's the kind of woman who prefers to get her hands dirty, working and playing among the common folk rather than attending high society parties. On that level she is quite similar to The King, who hates dealing with politicos and sycophants. They share interests, from an appreciation of the fine skyships the city navy fields to a distinctly warped sense of humor. That, coupled with the normal sexual chemistry and tension found in almost every Fallen relationship, has lead to more than a few political meetings and military formations being skipped for a day lounging in the royal bed chamber.
