Falcons have three states - fierce hunters, neurotic, and adorable. This gyrfalcon happens to be showing its cute side while in the middle of a preen.
More scratchboard! I'm enjoying doing these while sitting on the couch vegging out at the end of the day. This one is small - 5X7 inches. It's really interesting to see how different this one looks from the larger 9X12 one I did last week - the thickness of the lines really gives it a different feel.

Heh. I've seen falcons have a fourth mode, though it overlaps with "adorable" - curious. Kagemushi used to tell of a nearly flightless Peregrine Falcon his rehab center had that was nicknamed "The Wandering Falcon." She'd run on the ground, moving from room to room, hopping up to peer over people's shoulders and try to "help" then, then off to the next room! They had to put signs out to make sure nobody would step on her. ^.^
