This is meant to be Starr's signature weapon - a plasma charged chainsaw (or chainsword if you like) used by starship salvagers (Starr's original trade before he became an adventurer/xenoarchaeologist) to cut open and/or break apart starship hulls.
It's a pretty intense weapon - too heavy for a normal human to wield. Starr can only lift and swing it around thanks to his power-assisted exosuit. It's just too heavy to even lift it without his spacesuit.
