So I'm watching a video of El Che being interviewed around about 1968, and the video sticks at about halfway through. There's a flash of colour, which is strange since it's a black and white video.
I download it, and look it up in my video editor to try and isolate the flash. Turns out there's an extra frame. This is it.
By the way, I hate this show.

This frame is from a recording of german commercial tv. The station logo is from Pro7 ( http://www.prosieben.de/ ). It looks like, the tape used to record the interview hasn't been erased thoroughly. Or lost contact with the eraser head for a moment.
All music that I decide to keep eventually makes it's way into iTunes. Before then, or if it's something I don't necessarily want on my iPod, I use Winamp. Same goes for videos. Winamp is my primary desktop player for videos. I know that there are probably a slew of other programs out there that can do a lot more, but I've never had any problems with Winamp, and it's clean and simple to use.
Divx gets used occasionally, but it's in the same boat as WMP and Realplayer - I only use them for those few bastard-child vids/tracks that need that codex in order to run.
Don't even get me started on Quicktime.
