So after a hard day of set up, rehearsing, http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2279489 sound checks, the concert, and after concert party it's time for all the girls to go to bed! Melody has a book to unwind with while brushing out her fur, and Janet has got herself a friend for the night. These are a couple bedtime sketches I've done from the same series that created "Roll for Initiative." http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2095398/ With any luck I'll get colors of these done to.

Heh, that's cute, especially the mouse slippers. Guess it's convenient for Janet to be so small in this occasion; her teddy bear can serve as a bed as well, as you've shown before. Still adore that pic, by the way.
With their heights, this makes me wonder what their bedrooms are like, and to a further extent, their home and neighbourhood.

Whoops! I thought I'd replied back to you about your question already! My bad. On the question of mouse, or rat for that matter, you must remember that a sizable portion of the mice population have very little to do bigums on a personal basis. As general rule they directly interact with other mice only and live in parts of buildings that have built especially for them and therefore are scaled appropriately for them. For contact with bigums mice have found the phone and the internet and credit cards to be a real boom for them. In fact mice are generally credited in most cultures as having been the inventors of banking and credit.
When the mice communities have had to interact directly with bigums they have relied on certain individuals in their midst who are willing and often find it exciting to interact move in the bigum world! All of the mice I have shown on FA fall into that category. Even Petina and Jackie's bookish little female accountant Tabitha Proudears loosely falls into this category http://www.furaffinity.net/view/676162/ http://www.furaffinity.net/view/668334/ . In their communities they view with a mixture of respect, awe, gratitude, curiosity, but a the same time many also see them reckless risk-takers and maybe slightly mentally unstable since they gamble with their lives on an almost daily basis. Maybe not the best people for your quiet daughter or son to date. This ambivalence has been a source of debate, discussion, discovery, by the mouse world for literally thousands of years. It has also served as source of material for bigum and mouse writers for centuries.
On the question of beds. Due to their small size mice for thousand of years have slept in a nest-like mounds made of feathers, grass, and fur pelts from other animals that they would weave into basket type structure. In few exception they were from fired clay. These have dome roofs and an opening that one could crawl into . These nests help them preserve their body heat at night. In some parts of the world these nests can still be found. This style of nest has evolved into a round basket-like structure that has a fabric canopy to it. The inside is lined with a thick padded mattress-like pillow that you sleep on. Square and rectangular shapes are also found but round shape seems to be very popular with mice. These nests are often still made of wicker in construction but carved wood, ceramic and even plastic versions exist today. In old days there was a space under the nest where a small heated brick or rack could be added to help warm the bed. In modern nest there is often an electric heating element. It has only in recent times that tiny versions of bigum mattress have gained any market share in the mouse and rat world.
