Another older piece. I did this one last June... but it's still one of my favorites. :)

This picture is the beginning of my trying to get my Azura't'oris project into full swing again.
Part one of a series I'd like to do of my alien animals in their natural environments. Talokun are a race of huge desert reptiles (12 feet tall) and are the apex predator of the desert planet, Syvor.
Talos of both genders will often battle over territorial rights.
The name "Talokun" literally means "Diamond Head" in the native Syvorian language. They are obviously given that name because the crest and teeth allow the head to form a diamond shape. In galactic common they are called "Syvorian Dune Dragons"... though despite their name and draconic appearance, they are not true dragons (the only "true" dragons in the Azura't'oris universe are the two Theran dragon species). Talokun are more closely related to lizards or dinosaurs.
My original idea for this picture was to have the dragon in front fighting a group of Syvorians, the native sentients of Syvor, with rifles... as the result of the two species wandering onto each other's territories is often bloody. But after the first Talo as drawn in, I relized that the angle was odd and I couldn't fit a group of Syvorians in without it looking "off". So I added the second talo in instead and I think it looks a lot nicer that way.
