It's an Apple Burst in his natural exploding habitat.

While the rest of the younger Apple family's talents involve working with apples in some way, Apple Burst's talent is a bit different. He makes bombs. Now what purpose this talent serves at Sweet Apple Acres, or anywhere in Ponyville really, is unknown, but Apple Burst is perfectly content to just using his explosives for fun with no personal gain what so ever. The only other pony who enjoys his type of fun is his best friend, Pop Rocks. While he makes sure to be as far away from civilization when he does so to prevent damage to property and keep others safe, the residents of Ponyville still get anxious when he's around and others have a strong distrust of him, believing that he'll one day destroy the town.
