I'm trying to get myself modivated out of my depression and draw again. While driving home from Arizona, my radio was only picking up Spanish language stations, Country Western and Religious stations. So I had alot of quiet time to think.
I never got Red Shetland past book 11, Both Richard and I plotted a coarse for her in issue 12/13 and the series was going to be darker for Red. A complete upheaval in her life and where she gets more mercenary.
I can imagine Red wearing a bandanna , possibly more actual armor in her fighting than her chainmail bikini she's best known for. Nothing really written in stone yet, just noodling ideas for now.

she could have armor that is strips of metal covered with leather so it looks like fantasy leather armor
you could even give her a gambison

but since she is in the borderlands and there are Sheepenhiem soldiers around she could mix and match bits and pieces from both cultures
maybe a borderlands tunic over what you already have
also the story premise is something to consider
is she in a state of guerilla warfare (then the mix and match would work) or a "helms deep prepare for battle" where the tunic over would be more in line with the story

Red will likely head back North or NE to escape, only to feel bad whats happened and try and recruit help to assist the Borderlanders. Possibly bringing on Orcs (You'd like these orcs, reptilian, quasi komodo dragon in apperance.)
