A piece I did for @ wild-orca on Tumblr!

Quite an unusual interspecies meeting considering that these two - pacific white-sided and atlantic spotted dolphins - live in completely different areas so they just can't actually meet each other. What also differs is the experience I've got during creating this. Strangely, PWSD was not a problem, I really enjoyed drawing this 'phin! But spotted dolphin had given me a few problems at once.

I had to redraw this part three times. First - the pose chosen in the beginning didn't satisfy me at all at coloring stage, so - had to change it. Second - choosing the colors was hard, since the dolphin is at the distance, but I also wanted him to be not a "casual" part of the background. Third trouble I had - SPOTS, FRECKLES. LOTS OF THOOOOSE. Can't say if that was, well, that problematic, however it did take moooore time than I expected.

Overall tho, it was fun to do this work! Finally I'd a 100% chance to draw a species different from bottlenoses and orcas. In the future I really want to try porpoises and minkes (minkes are my fave butte, luv them <3), but I gotta finish the commissions first. :)
