Time for a case of “I can’t be the only one remembering this thing.”

So when I was a kid, I remember seeing an old animated movie. we’re talking like, early 80s perhaps? And I remember it being about a kid, who lived in a society of knights. Knights had to be Big and Strong and Awesome, and they were so anal about being knights, that they never took off their armor, not even when washing.

And then the main character had… either an asshole dad or a stepdad, and he wanted to get rid of the kid? So he sends the kid out on one of those Impossible Quests That No One Returns From. In this case, it’s because of the perils everyone had to face, and of course our hero manages to find a way around it.

There were bird people, as seen in the pic, including a sweet bird princess, who was friends with another people in the form of giant heads with large fans for ears, that they used to blow away their enemies. Bird princess introduces the kid to her friend, and everything is cool, because the kid is not an asshole. He is warned by Big Ears about a particular peril, in the form of The Magnetic Mountain.

The Magnetic Mountain is basically a death sentence if you like to wear armor all the time, because if you get too close, the magnetic mountain yanks you over so you get stuck to its sides, and then a monster bird picks you off and eats you or feeds you to its young.

I can’t remember what they were looking for or if the kid got it, I just know he got rid of some of his armor so the magnetic mountain wouldn’t get it. Needless to say, I wish I could find it again, or at least figure out the name.
