In a matter of minutes the first wave of mines was deployed, and the deployment alone had them drifting away from their piece of the ship.
"Now!" Artison shouted "Detonate now?"
"What?" Alexa looked up at him "They're so close though, it could damage our own hull!"
"Any space between us will reduce our propulsion," Artison said "if we lose that our momentum will mean nothing when we hit The Gigantic."
"Do it, Alexa!" Deimos shouted "NOW!"
"We could die if this fails!" Alexa still shouted
"Listen to them, Alexa!" D shouted "Blow them up!"
At D's command, there was a boom heard through the hull and then a louder bashing heard as something hit them.
"Assessment." Artison said "What happened?"
"We got knocked into the ship," Alexa said "But we only changed the trajectory. We've got about five rounds left."
"Deploy it again," Artison said "On my mark."
"Now you wanna wait after we just blew ourselves up?"
"We need momentum?" Artison stated "And that's gonna happen if we're away from the ship.
"If we're away though, we'll lose time," Deimos said "Something we're already losing."
"Mark!" Artison shouted "Mark, mark, ire now!" and the a wave of mines were released again. "Detonate!"
Once again, There was a boom, and then a louder bashing noise.
"We're still not doing enough!" Alexa said "it's not in orbit!"
"What about a bigger explosion to propel us?" D asked "if we used more mines we could get sent further."
"That might break a hole in this thing." Deimos said "We're already damaging it on two fronts, How much more can it take?"
"He has a point, Master D." Alexa said "The mines are dealing amounts on their own, hitting The Gigantic is damaging us on the other side."
"Is The Gigantic's collision course still on the city?" Deimos said "You said it yourself, there's no saving the ship. What about the base though?"
"Wait, D's right!" Artison exclaimed "We can use two rounds!"
"What?" The other guys shouted "You're crazy!" D shouted
"It won't work!" Alexa agreed
"If it won't work than I'm not mad Like D said." Artison smiled "Fire one round!"
"Wait, You said we could use two-"
"Fire now!"
Alexa deployed the mines, and let them drift.
"Wait for it..." Artison said and then looked to his bracers "And... fire a second round."
"A second?" D looked at him dumbfounded "We haven't even set off the first mines."
"Wait, I think I'm catching, on." Deimos said and watched from the monitor. "Do as he says, Alexa."
The next round of mines was released into the-
"Detonate the first ones!" Artison shouted, and their piece of the ship and mines were sent straight at the ship. they hit hard and started to float away "Now the others!"
The explosion was close and strong and violent. The three were thrown about the piece of ship as it rolled over and over as alarms blared.
"We're losing power!" Alexa shouted, "Master D, pull me out!"
Deimos grabbed hold of something, and D grabbed Alexa's device and pulled her out.
"Alexa," Deimos shouted "What of The Gigantic?"
"It's in orbit!" Alexa said "it worked!"
Deimos cheered and Artison laughed delighted, and even D grinned gleefully.
"Now how do we stop spinning?" D asked, and then the lights flickered
"That's the downside" Alexa said "We're in a box falling fast from space with fading power."
