So this is Wisper. He doesn't really have much of a backstory, but so far I decided that the character was attacked by something that took his arm and heavily damaged its head leaving him at the brink of death. The thing that took his arm cursed/Hex/Corrupted him and removed his ability to cast his shadow on to the ground and forced it over his missing limb and head. Morphing him into a monster of sorts.

His shadow that now created a new arm and covers the top of his head has turned into an Umbral essence. It does not glow even though it would seem like it. Any purple on his body is a side effect from the Umbra being on him for so long, kind of dying his body the color of the umbral essence.

Contrary to his appearance, Wisper is a nice guy, but his deformed monstrous appearance of his head and arm tends to detour people and even get him ran out of towns. This is why he wears a mask and a sleeve over his arm nub. He is capable of manipulating his umbral essence enough so he can put on clothing such as this to hide his features so he can be accepted with out being judged at first glance... atleast not as judged.
