This afternoon I found a cache of MOD and S3M files that I made in around the year 2000, and something possessed me to torture myself by looking through them and seeing what I came up with when I was just starting out with Modplug Tracker nine years ago. Amongst the embarrassment I found this, which I thought was strangely listenable for the time - it was an attempt at a conversion of the theme music from Apogee and Animation FX's unusually oppressive isometric action game, Mystic Towers.
It's not very accurate or anything, mostly because I remember the process for making this was to repeatedly start up the game, listen to the point I had got to so far, then quit and track as much more of it as I could remember (no multitasking in DOS mode!). The original music is fantastic, though, and some of it can be heard at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYQhQRPLFmA . At least you can hear the kind of thing I was making before I really started writing music of my own!

OMG I remember this game. For a long time I've been trying to figure out the name of this game. I only played a little of it, but I still liked it. Man I can't remember any of the music on it. It's kind of funny out of all the games you've posted music about, it was this one I recalled.
Glad to have sparked a memory :) It wasn't until I went back to the game a few years after first playing it that I realized how good the title music was - my memory of it had more been of an unusually dark and foreboding game for Apogee, especially compared to the cartoon-like setting. There was just something about... being on a floor that was marked red on the map, and knowing that there could be monsters in the next room about to come through and get you.
