So, I've actually been a really big fan of RWBY since shortly after it came out. When I first saw it, the first two or three episodes were out, and I recall not having to wait around too long for the fourth. Something about it just immediately clicked in my mind. Even in the first episode, it sets up some basic facts about the world without resorting to an exposition dump. As the seasons have continued, the quality's really picked up, though season 2 to season 3 had the biggest jump, and season 4 had a shift in art style. While a single season only lasts a few hours, there's some good use of time in establishing characters and little arcs. The series isn't perfect, and a retrospective into Season 2 has made me view it as a bit lacking, but it has characters that I feel for and care about.
Which brings us to this picture. I can't really stress simply how much I love Roman Torchwick as a character. It's actually the general kind of style that I look to be when playing the rogueish type or an evil hero in a campaign: charming, clever, classy, but an asshole. He's got the skills, he's got the looks, and he's armed with a walking stick that shoots rockets. All-in-all, my kind of guy. Then there's Pyrra Nikos. A capable fighter, a caring individual, but overall she's displayed as a powerful and skilled individual that nevertheless finds herself separated from her peers. Powerful, but selfless, a refreshing combination in a side-character.
My choices for Valentin and Zinaida were actually pretty straightforward: I thought they mostly physically suited the characters. I suppose Ren and Nora would've made a better combination thematically (Valentin's quiet and introspective, Nora's chatty and energetic, much like the Tarasov twins), though I feel like Valentin has incidentally been set up to look like Roman Torchwick in some ways.
Anyway, I digress...
Valentin Tarasov and Zinaida Tarasov belong to me.
The characters of Roman Torchwick and Pyrra Nikos belong to Rooster Teeth, and the series was created by the late Monty Oum.
