A friend's character for a custom D&D campaign I've been crafting for quite some time.

A Human Artificer, a rare and shunned upon study of magic due to its obscure origins and sometimes horrendous methods of research and practice.

Born without a right arm, Ethelm was frowned upon in society due to his defect. Searching for arts in which would have him acquire a new arm, he stumpled upon an ancient tome of artifice, in which he studied for years and years in order for him to perfect a metallic arm that he could use. But the new metallic arm only left him more shunned, and he retreated into his own studies in order to perfect his own metallurgy.

His elder brother, however, grew jealous with his brother's newfound knowledge and power and stole the tome from him, wishing to use its forgotten and forbidden powers for himself. Ethelm now searches for his brother and the tome throughout Ethelm, wishing to retrieve it so he can continue his quest to become a master of artifice.
