I was over at a friends house this weekend, and an image on his desktop was the starting inspiration for this picture. Really, my intent was to create a character who had a shirt or jacket with an extremely large collar. Thats where it started, but it has certainly gone a long way from that. I think it's become a good piece which can be read in to in many different ways.

The image was done with traditional pencil, marker, prismacolors, then a little bit of white paint pen for accents. The background is a modified photo of some quite beautiful architecture.

Looking back down the street, a sword on his thigh and a cuff on his ankle. Where is he going, what is he thinking and where did he come from? Does he have friends, does he have regrets...
