Definitely~ I didn't much like Royal Ludroth at first but even after he grew on me a ton he doesn't have the same charm as these two ^^
In all honesty I can't think of any 'starter' monster that does... Off the top of my head anyway. Velocidrome's annoying, Yian Kut-ku is kinda silly to watch but in the early game I never liked fighting it, Kecha's.... Um... Different... But these two! Jaggi's not only handsome *and* cute, but his fights have always been the most 'fair' for early game players and newcomers, Qurupeco's summoning isn't horrifying in the early going when he only calls Grape Jiggy to him, and the bird's so full of sassy personality <3
A 'lil off-topic, but Qurupeco was my 2nd most used monster in MHST, only ever fell behind once Rathy came along. Qurupeco had average enough stats to hold up in most everything other than really tough boss fights, but he also had those handy healing and buffing songs of his - plus the way he runs is just so cute, and his field skill being forcing a random battle to spawn was good for grinding.

Oh yes indeed~ He's such a cutie. Kecha's actually kinda fun and cute in his own way yea!
Hehe, I'd like to think that somewhere there's a pair just like this, where Jaggi actually comes to peco's aid because he likes the bird (Rather than the usual peco being deceiving and all that)
Oh yes yes! I loved messing with my team and the pose options to see all the dif combinations. Some of them were really cute ^^

I like these more 'creative' takes on the material, since the ones that just focus on "A hunter's life" and all that just... Well they're cool in their own right, but if I wanted to see that I'd just play the games ya'know? :P
I mean I've seen one that was kind of interesting, but it didn't really suit my fancy and I stopped reading after a while. It wasn't terribly serious in tone, aside from the instances of monster abuse but nothing more than we do in the games, but it still wasn't really up my alley.
Then there was this (sadly discontinued :< ) comic on Tumblr that had a very cute style. It starred a Gore Magala as the main character, and had this idea I adored where the monsters more or less treated the games as their “job” - literally. When not on a quest they'd actually be in a modern setting at this office. Zinogre was Gore's superior and one he looked up to very highly, and Rajang was I think their manager, with Kirin being his secretary.
There were other monsters here and there, but those were the most notable ones. Gendrome was said to be constantly fascinated by the copying machine's lights (So they had to move it so he – and other mons – wouldn't be distracted by it), Qurupeco worked in marketing, and Khezu... I don't know what he did but he was one of Gore's coworkers and wore glasses. Rathian was a psychiatrist or something ^^
The basis of that comic helped inspire my own side-setting, along with this adorable Japanese comic featuring a Rathalos named Beans (yes, his name is in fact Beans) and his Nargacuga friend as the main characters. This one had a somewhat serious tone to it and a good amount of detailing to things, but it was more or less a complete opposite to the first one which focused on Hunters. This one obviously focused on the monster's perspective on things.
With the exception of the 'defenseless herbivores' and Deviljho, all the monsters could talk to each other, though it doesn't necessarily prevent fights heh.
Deviljho kills Qurupeco in Chapter 4 and is killed himself by a hunter in the next chapter after a long fight with the two main characters, Zinogre and Nargacuga get into a fight in Chapter 7 and in Chapter 9 Beans manages to piss off Lagiacrus who in a fairly amusing scene drags him into the ocean then threatens to eat him if he doesn't apologize. IMO that was one of my favorite scenes in the comic, along with Narga and Beans sparring with each other where Narga readies a tail slam as rathalos is about to shoot a fireball - the end result was just hilarious. Easily the best moment in the comic.
The other comic was a two-part comic that was sold at a convention (I purchased both parts online :3) featuring a Lagiacrus and a Tamamitsune. It was absolutely adorable in so many ways. Like the above it was highly detailed, set in a fairly realistic tone, and the monsters are capable of talking with each other (However it's likely they can't understand human language, as is implied when Lagiacrus fights off a group of hutners that were assaulting Tama, they're talking to each other but it's just garbled unreadable gibberish)
There was also two brief sequences I found of a hunter paired with their favorite monster, one with a G.Jaggi and the other paired with a Zamite and later Zamtrios. In the former though, the two could actually talk to each other – which was pretty cute.
The AskBlogs on Tumblr are also a lot of fun with how they spin things too :>
So seeing a little short story featuring the misadventures of a G.Jaggi and Peco would be adorb.

Ah and if you're curious I've got the whole Beans comic on my computer, so I can show you if you'd like to take a look. I can't read most of it but I've been able to make out a few things here and there ^^;
The g.jaggi/Zamtrios things and most of the G.Magala comic as well. Can't help with the english comic though, but I think it was called “I want to be a hunter” or something on DeviantART

OMGGGGG that comic sounds super adorable!! Any chance I can get a link to that discontinued comic? I'd adore seeing something like that~ But it sucks that it was discontinued! ><
I've never seen anyone elaborate on the personalities of the individual monsters, lol! That's all so fascinating to me! (I'm not much of a Fanfic reader so I always feel super new to this stuff!)
AND I'M SO FAVORITING YOUR COMMISSION PICTURE! That is WAY too cute! <3 I'd love to see your Beans comic, too!! :)

Yeah I don't know if the artist fell out of MonHun or not but after a while she only ever occasionally drew them but mostly drew Final Fantasy XIV related things, so I guess interests just changed *shrug*
It was called モンハン日記 (MonHun Diaries) and at times wasn't tagged very well hah, but here's a link that covers most of it: http://enralis.tumblr.com/tagged/%E.....97%A5%E8%A8%98
Aaah for the longest time I was under the impression people only ever drew the mons as snarling animals and/or them getting beaten up. Then I began finding cute art after another, and then I found the Tumblr AskBlogs - oh my goodness that was like a treasure trove of cute things xD If I started pasting in links here FA would break 'em up (You can reattach them just fine manually, but i'll just put it in a Note if it proves troublesome) Not to mention they're pretty friendly people too, though it's always a sad day when one of the blogs goes inactive or shuts down ;v;
http://ask-goremagala.tumblr.com/ Gore's was one I really liked, and one that disappeared one day w/o warning. His titular monster was a prideful one that hated taking baths x3
http://ask-agnaktor.tumblr.com/ There were two agnaktor blogs, this one was the more unique (and well-drawn) of the two. She disappeared after a while once before (likely because of college at the time) and is currently MIA right now, but it's most likely college again. OMG THIS ONE IS JUST TOO CUTE. Even her older works were adorable - And what a mischievous little thief her monster is. One of the older arts was a hunter that got that 2% drop off a stygian and then it smacks him, and while the two are going at it again the lil agnaktor picks up the rare item and runs off with it because “it was shiny”
http://asktrithunderclaw.tumblr.com...../148397572814/ Last one for now, FA's likely already broken one or two anyway, but this was a relatively recent one that I adored. Rather than a specific monster it focuses on a group, a trio of thunder-element monsters that (Wait for it) actually form a musical band x3 Abyssal Lagiacrus, T-lord Zinogre, and Raizex. Not only are their antics fun, but the style's pretty cute as well! And aah when he drew the trio at school it was the cutest thing. Zinogre fell asleep in class, and Asta's a bit concerned when there's explosions coming from a room and asks a nearby G.Jaggi if it's a chemistry class but the latter explains its an Art Class (which confuses the former until a Brachydios can be heard shouting “I'm okay!” from inside)
Aah glad you liked it~ ^^
I'll be sending ye a Note with the comic links in a minute~
