So... I've been having some serious problems with my computer for a little over a month now. What I thought was a dying motherboard turned out to be the CPU having fired on me, and melted part of the cooling fan. Long story short, I took it in for repairs, had a new chip and fan fitted in, and Serylis (my computer) has been BSODing like mad every day. Eventually it got to the point where Windows wouldn't boot (BSOD on startup), so I had to reformat and reinstall windows, whilst finding a way to back up all my files using only the command prompt.

She's a bit more stable now, but only just - she still freezes/BSODs on occasion, and it's gotten to the point where I feel like dropping her right out of my bedroom window. I'm hoping to have a friend send me another replacement chip (the same model that I had before it commited suicide), and I'm also looking into replacing the CPU fan while I'm at it - while the guy at the shop had done his best to get my compy back up and running, I don't think he's managed to fix the problem, more like did a rough patch job to last long enough while I try to come up with a better solution outside of building a new system from scratch.

In the meantime, here's Declan summing up my compy problems quite nicely with the appropriate anti-frustration measures. Eeek!
