"OOoohhmm..Ooohhmm.."
The gentle chorus of hums, some audible and ringing in the high ceiling, wooden floored enclosure of the studio while others could only be heard up close died down once the instructor spoke up.
"And now from the Cat pose we move from release into relaxation. Mothers, when your ready I want you to get into Padmasana or Lotus Pose - that's good. Very good" the young instructor coming to help a few of the heavily rounded women, clad in gym clothes tailored specifically to accommodate the voluminous burden of those swollen, pregnant bellies. "Excellent - Hold the symbolic teaching of the lotus flower in your mind. Like the lotus, our spiritual unfolding is rooted in the muddied waters of life: Our errors can make us more compassionate, our losses can make us more understanding, and our frailties provide necessary fuel for empathy, for connection, and ultimately for acceptance. Atlass, some insight you wish to share with your Yogi?"
For a second the mare was all of eight years old again, nowhere near the colossus she stood in the present and being scolded at the back of the schoolhouse for her cheek anew. Lucky for the redhead she managed to give little more than a small start which pulled her away from whatever she'd been whispering to the heifer at her side. Clearing her throat, Atlass tried to abate the small chortle rousing among the other mothers with a cough quickly saying "Oh no, I'm sorry just - a little twinge. Think they're acting up again" giving her stomach a comforting pat. Immediately the Yogi's face dissolved into an understanding smile, placing a hand on Atlasses shoulder saying "Yes, you and Izzy are almost on your second trimesters right? For our newer mothers while fifteen weeks is often the prescribed time to feel your babies first movements sometime within 16 and 22 weeks though if you're little one is exceptionally acrobatic you may-"
Atlass gave an appreciative chuckle alongside the other women for the most part her attention had fallen wayside where the lesson portion was concerned. She was quite well versed in the facts, what to expect was hardly a surprise at this point. Still the Yogi's words had hit home and she spared Izzy a sidelong smile before the Yogi's voice came again, saying "now relax and focus - keep awareness on your breath, center your thoughts and find your inner peace". The mare obliged at first, but her thoughts didn't stray far from her friend so close at her side. Soon she was cracking up open an emerald hued eye to steal a peak, forced to suppress another snicker at the placid look on Izzy's face. She supposed in a way the young woman had some salient truth in her ethereal wisdom, hadn't their shared frailties in this state led to the friendship in the first place? Atlass managed to center her peace and find her inner thoughts, or something to the description though Izzy still lingered on the fringes of her mind. Something told her they might have to skip stopping at the coffee place today and maybe get a taxi back to her house..
This lovely picture was picked up from a daily sketch stream and I have to say, I'm short on words to describe just how lovely it it is.
Special thanks to
LavyPandyWorks for their amazing work on this, for anyone looking for great art I would give the Panda my highest recommendation!

dat_izzy because she started it, as usual. In all seriousness, after getting one lovely picture of the two with child I just needed to add another.
Credit for Atlass goes to me, natch-
