Sketch for a crystal-backed Pangolin, hope you guys like him, his 2nd and third Tiers are going to lean away from cute and be a bit more "hardcore" and intimidating. Think, a lion/draconic lizard I know it sounds odd but I hope it works.
Also, feel free to give me ideas on a colour scheme on this guy, at this point I'm thinking black, beady eyes, a sandy beige for the exposed parts of it's skin fading to a clay red as it nears the crystals (reverse colour scheme of the real Pangolin. See bottom of page for a link to images of a Pangolin) and either a Ruby colour for the crystals or an Amethyst purple.

Yea. Perhaps.
Ideas (You decide): Add this to the story of the game: "Sometimes we find unique or rare mutated bijoumon that has some impressive ability's. Some will have multiple EA, or Species some will just be more powerful in skill, but even some "
Sometimes, mutation can be anything (with a couple ideas: time (evolution of long existed bijoumon), toxic waste, special unique object (like a legend seed or stone), unique areas (hell crater, mountain sanctuary, dimensional flux, etc.).
Some Idea on mutation (or in this case dimensionnal transformation to the nearest looking creature in Bjmn World):
Perhaps like your #1 in http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2136556 with added feature of my creature. (Same creature except a different EA, and a slight different look [more spikes on back of head, scar on right eye, species: (winged lizard {dragon}) and spikes on tail will be bent like lighting bolts.])

I'll bring these ideas up to the rest of the dev team and get thier oppinions, but just keep in mind an entire species of any creature real or imagined, isn't going to have a scar in the same place, that's just not possable. Even though we are making a videogame we still have to adhere to reality as closly as possible.
I know that scars can't be always at the same place. Uniques or background-story creatures may have some.
Plus before I mentionned "scar" I typed:
"mutation (or in this case dimensionnal transformation to the nearest looking creature in Bjmn World) ..."
This means its a unique dimensionnal event.
(You don't need to add the scar or dimensions in your game story.)
But your video game, your choice. I am just here to give a couple of ideas.
Side subject: Once, I did try to make a video game... alone... no backup computer... ARG!!! It took me 3 years to make it and nearly finnish it, and lost it all by a damn virus (malware). [If you want to know what type of game it was note me.)
Glad, that you have a team to help for the game. And hope that you got an extra computer unplug from the internet just in case for backup.

Ahh, okay I missunderstood you, but at this point (since it's the first game) I'm avoiding unique script as much as possible, so any varying changes (random markings, different patterns, "personal tattoos", etc) in a single species is a no-go for right now.
I can sympathise on loosing an entire project to a faulty computer. I've already been set back by months because my roomates' computer went down and he used my laptop without permition. Viruses flooded my hard drive and corrupted much of what I had been working on.
After that point (and the reformat) I've had my computer Auto-burn a dvd containing the information from my C#, XNA, and Lua folders on a nightly basis, I have a healthy stack coming along :) once the game is done the boys and I are going skeet-shooting with all of the outdated disks :D

- Usualy every games has a couple of uniques. And a beginning of each series of games doesn't have that much of uniques, like for exemple Final Fantasy 1, Pokemon, mario bros., etc. So a good game animator need to know its limits.
Exemple: Putting my creature in your next game version with a background story and with an event attached to it.
- At least you got your backups.
And try to keep the out-dated disk, even if your game is done, because it can become an asset for future games (Except if you're going 3D.) This is called general backup. My Uncle is a game maker for nintendo, 10 years ago, and he keeps his disks in case of computer errors, or viruses that will halt production. And If he lost his final production game disk.

There will be a small number of 'Mythic' and 'Lythic' creatures in the first game (equivelent to legendaries in pokemon) but what I'm trying to avoid is coding like what was used on (NPd#327) Spinda, every Spinda has unique markings (spots in diffrent places) an awesome task for us to reproduce at this point. I'm not going to be looking into something like that now, but as a later installment.
Since Bijoumon is going to be a single, multi-player or MMO game, there will be udates, add-ons and downloadable content featuring; new areas, new items, new clothing, new quests, new monsters and so on, on a regular basis. So what I'm trying to say is if we want it done we don't really have any long-term time crunch but we are trying to get the game out into the market sooner than later :)
