Hey guys,
You drunk yet? You have a little more fight in ya for one last drink?
Let's set sail for the pirate's brew in rum, shall we?
Wrapper:Maduro
Binder:Nicaraguan
Filler:Nicaraguan
Pre-Light/Construction:
With the final stick coming to my eye, the same presentation came like the others, but a bit of a more lighter maduro than the last review. The band itself is a bit more of a relaxed look. Aged 7 Years and the redness in the band gave it a bit of a pirate theme for me. So I drew a pirate. :D The band was a bit rough, but oily as hell. Semes and veins were a bit visible, but the overall look was still pleasant. Let's get it lit up.
The Burn Part 1:
Before lighting it up, I had to let it air out for 5 minutes with the recommendation from Will. (Gurkha Sales Rep)
The draw was VERY loose and alot of flavor rang out. Sweet Rum was the dominant one of the notes. A bit of light pepper came into the mix. Besides the fact that the draw was very loose, it kind of overwhelmed me at bit. BEing that was St. Patrick's Day and I had a Jameson Double Shot, I could mow it down. So far at this point, it was Medium body.
The Burn Part 2:
The draw at this point tightened up a bit for some more pleasant flow. A it of oaky notes blended in real well with the pepper and rum. Became a little more mellow in the body as it went along. A bit more sweet notes from the rum became vibrant as the puff and retro hale passed by as well. The okay notes became a little more natural. The draw itself started to settle into an average flow which made my head less light headed. By the end of it, the pepper notes became a little more stronger.
The Burn Final:
At this point where the 3 main flavors were dominating the pallet, a subtle 4th note came in at the right time. A bit of cedar. Natural cedar. I had a clear head at this time which was more of a pleasant setting for the end of this one. With the final few draws the pepper and rum notes tied to the finish. With a smile and swig from my Jameson, I smiled with, "To the luck of the Irish."
Verdict:
With a taste for rum once in awhile, I can only understand that a sweet tooth in liquor is the way to go. I always say, "Rum is Yum." Give this a try guys. :D
