Spirit Guide of the Day is Puffin! This guide means that it is more important to pay attention to body language rather than what someone is vocalizing. Do your best to avoid conflicts for no one will win if it comes to confrontation. Instead, lighten up and put some humor into your spiritual path. Take some extra time to pray every day for at least a few minutes with an emphasis on gratitude rather than any sort of requests. Hold your emotions close for the time being instead of expressing them and do your best to look down the road and anticipate what may happen before you take any action. Individuals that connect with Puffin love to live near water, keeping a healthy balance in their life. Generally playful and peaceful at whatever work they are doing, Puffin spirits are active and involved in their spiritual life as well. Working as a psychic or therapist would be great for Puffins, as they have a powerful and accurate sense if intuition.
Atlantic Puffins, or just commonly known as Puffins, also possess the nickname "Clowns of the Ocean" and "Sea parrot". This is due to their distinctive large, bright-colored beaks. Puffins are found in Greenland and Northern Canada along with other areas such as Nova Scotia, Northern Scandinavia and Russia, and Ireland. During the summer, they rest along the rocky cliffs of the shoreline, but during winter are rarely seen as they venture further out into the deep sea until around March. The males have large orange bill plates that are grown before the breeding season, using them to attract a mate, before being shed later in the season. There are three subspecies of Puffin, Fratercula arctica arctica, fratercula arctica grabae, and fratercula arctica naumanni. These creatures have a range of vocalizations including purring noises while in flight as well as low groans and grunts while nesting. Like ducks, they rest bobbing along the water and in order to fly they must run along the surface of the water to become airborne. Puffins hunt offshore for fish, lining them up in their beaks by using their tongues to hold the fish against the spines in the roof of their mouth. Saving space by lining them alternately to each side, these techniques allow the Puffins to continue hunting for even more fish. These expert divers and swimmers also eat crustaceans and squid, at times diving hundreds of feet deep to catch their prey. These great hunters can swallow their prey underwater or, if feeding young, can carry up to 30 fish in their bills.
