The first of what will be a sporadically updated series of portraits of the thirteen Underlords, the beings that judge the souls of the damned once they descend to Hell. Since I only have ideas for three or four of them, this will not be a series that will reach completion any time soon.
This is the first, Naret Aluan, the Underlord of Regret. Most of the Underlords are demons, but Naret Aluan is one of the exceptions. She is an Earth spirit, once worshiped as a deity of the moon. Her form is sleek and beautiful, her markings shining like the stars in the night sky. Her power as a spirit faded when humans began to destroy the jungles that had given birth to her, but she never became vengeful. Never lost the hope that in life or in death, humans will one day repent of their misdeeds. Although it is too little too late by the time they reach the judgment of the Underlords, Naret Aluan is almost always the voice of reason. She pleads for each and every soul sent before her, fighting to ensure that each one is punished only to the extent they deserve, and no more. Souls in Hell suffer, but it is because of her that they do not suffer needlessly.
I know this design isn't unique, but when it occurred to me to include her in the pantheon of the Underlords, this is the only design I wanted. Many, many reference images were consulted for the drawing itself, and especially for the spots.
